Abstract (EN)

Since its discovery, coffee has spread all over the world and has become a cultural value. The aforementioned culture has diversified depending on the cultural and social structure of different geographies by keeping up with the pace of modern life. Coffee, which has increased in variety, has prepared the environment for the variety of the cooking method of the containers (cups, glasses, etc.) and the materials used (such as coffee machines). The type of coffee is identified with the cup used and the way it is presented, and today it has become a beverage accessible to everyone. In the past, coffee appeared as a beverage served to important guests, especially during the Ottoman period. Today, it has become a beverage that is frequently consumed and easily accessible in places such as cafes, restaurants and coffee houses. Coffee has emerged as a beverage that does not lose its value from the past to the present. The coffee culture of our country dates back to the Ottoman period. Cups, which have an important place in the coffee culture, have also changed over time with the diversification and innovations in the coffee culture. In this study, the history of coffee was investigated by making literature researches. In addition, literature research on cup types and cup design that is identified with coffee has been made and original cup design applications, which are suitable for today with mud lathe, which is a traditional shaping method, are included. The aim of the study is to transfer these values to future generations by making designs suitable for the present with the traditional ceramic shaping method of the cup used in the presentation of coffee, which has preserved its value from the past to the present.
