Immigration from Bulgaria to Turkey (1989) through the eyes of the remaining and the going: Before and after the immigration

Throughout history, Anatolian lands have witnessed many migrations and hosted thousands of immigrants. There were also migrations from the Balkans to these lands from time to time. Especially during the stagnation and disintegration periods of the Ottoman Empire, there were intense migrations from the Balkan geography. One of the most important of these migrations is the migration of Turks living in Bulgaria. From 1878 to 1989, there were migrations from Bulgaria to Anatolia for various reasons. Its aim is to research the political and social atmosphere observed or experienced by the Turks who chose to immigrate to Turkey in the same period as the Turks who did not immigrate to Turkey in 1989 but continued to live in Bulgaria, and to determine what happened before and after immigration. The scope of the study consists of an observation covering the political, economic and social life of the Turkish immigrants who migrated to Turkey after the forced migration and the Turks who stayed in Bulgaria. The research was qualitatively designed and It was designed with a case study, one of the qualitative research designs. With an interview form that identifies the data of the study, the interviews with Turks residing in Bulgaria and Turks immigrating to Turkey were collected and their interviews were recorded. descriptive analysis, one of the qualitative data analysis, was used in the analysis of the data. In this context, the data were coded and categorized. Codes and themes were organized and findings were defined and interpreted.
