Özet (EN)

Introduction Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and total hip arthroplasty (THA) are implemented very common in Turkey and all over the world; it is estimated that these two arthroplasty are implemented more common in the following years. In the literature, patients undergoing TKA and THA stated different methods when making operation decision. Although there are many studies that investigate how patient make a decision on operation, there is not any study in Turkish population. For this reason, the aim of this study is determination of decision making sources for operation in patients undergoing TKA and THA and also investigation of relationship between decision making sources and patient satisfaction level in the postoperative period. Materials and Methods For this study, 48 patients, who would undergo THA or TKA, were recruited. Average age of patients undergoing THA is 54,63±6,3, average age of patients undergoing TKA is 62,00±14,9. Information included decision making sources and information sources, Harris Hip Score (HHS) and Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) were recorded during preoperative period. In the postoperative first week satisfaction survey, the sixth week satisfaction survey and HHS and HSS were also performed. Results There was not a significant difference between decision making sources and information sources in patients undergoing TKA and THA (p>0.05). There was a significant difference in decision-making sources and information sources parameters with postoperative HHS and HSS (p<0.05). There was not a significant difference in decision making sources and information sources parameters and postoperative first and sixth week satisfaction survey (p>0.05). There was a correlation between some satisfaction parameters and HHS, HSS (p<0.05). Discussion As a result, there was a significant difference in decision making sources and information sources parameters with post- operative HSS and HHS, however there was not a significant difference in decision making sources and information sources parameters and postoperative first and sixth week satisfaction survey. We think that current study contributes to long time-consuming and expensive arthroplasty rehabilitation period. This study is also helpful the rehabilitation team for effective use of hospital resources and rehabilitation facilities. With this result, further studies appear to be warranted by following the current study. Key words : Hip, Knee, Osteoarthritis, Endoprosthesis, Decision making, Satisfaction.
