Determination of critical success factors in quality oriented enterprise resource planning

Advances in information technologies made global competition much harder than before. Enterprises had to reduce the costs, provide business process flow, increase the manufacturing variety, make connection among suppliers and meet the customer requirements mercurially in order to be successful and prolong their existence.Enterprises has developed management information systems which include manufacturing, marketing and finance functions by taking advantage of various information technologies in order to use the sources effectively and efficiently in this competition environment. In the process of strategic planning and decision making present and newest tool in utilization information systems is ?Enterprise Resource Planning? (ERP).ERP is a software system which includes the most effective and efficient planning, coordination and controlling functions of supplying, manufacturing and distribution sources in different geographic regions. The purpose of ERP is to provide aim and operation collocation among all the departments in the enterprises. On the other hand, ineffective ERP application may bring the enterprise in a worse condition than before.The purpose of this study is to examine strategic, tactical and cultural success factors which need to be taken into account during the setting the ERP system up by enterprises and to determine the determinant factors on success after ERP systems? application.In this study, applications of ERP systems which can be defined as a software package which has a wide ranging and modular structure and which provides the enterprises to manage all the business processes from supply to distribution by the help of an embedded data management system support has been examined. Data has been collected by means of survey study and analysed statistically in enterprises which have Total Quality Management experience and which are using ERP project and critical success factors during setting up the ERP systems were determined.Consequently, with the trust of the top management to the issue and giving all kind of support, constituting project teams with strong technical infrastructure and using effective project management by planning detailed all the phases of the project a successful ERP system may be applied.
