Abstract (EN)

The increase in the number of patients diagnosed with heart failure in recent years; Proliferation of treatment options is associated with effective disease management and increased survival rate. It is seen that self-care behaviors are affected and quality of life changes in patients with heart failure. This study was carried out in a descriptive and cross-sectional design to determine the relationship between the adequacy of self-care (EHFScBS) behaviors and quality of life (MLHFQ) levels of heart failure patients. The sample of the study consisted of 120 patients who applied to the cardiology department of a private foundation university hospital between June 2021 and January 2022 and met the inclusion criteria. In the study, the mean of the MLHFQ scale total value was 45.84±20.09, and the mean of the EHFScBS total value was 32.76±6.85 . There is a positive and weakly significant correlation between the MLHFQ scale score and the EHFScBS scale score (r=.212, p<0.05). It was found that NYHA Class II heart failure patient's self-care behaviors are the highest and the level of quality of life was determined as the lowest in NYHA Class IV heart failure patients (p<0.05). In nursing care, it should be taken into account that the self-care and quality of life of heart failure patients are significantly affected.
