A research on evaluation of governmental and non-governmental social assistance applications: Case of Konya

In this study, evolving out of the toughts of the professionals working in the public, local government and non-governmental organizations' social assistance field in Konya, it is aimed to determine functioning and basic problems of social assistance offered by public, local governments and non-governmental organizations, and also it is aimed to propose solutions for these problems. Within the context of the study sample, a survey was conducted with a total number of 103 participants working in public institutions, local governments and non-governmental organizations in Konya. The data obtained, is analyzed via SPSS and interpretted by the researcher. In this study, social assistance applications, implemented by various sectors, are compared, assessments regarding which sectors have more efficient social assistance applications are argued out and interpretations on the necessity of rather or not bringing all sectors together, are evaluated. Accordingly, findings like all sectors have positive and negative social assistance applications within, participants have problems mostly because of untrue and misleading pronouncements, there is a necessity of having a common database open for use of all sectors, social assistance institution directors and social investigation professionals are from different occupation groups and the objectives of conducting social assistance differ in respect of sectors, are made. In the conclusion part of the study, also, solutions for problems, which are identified as a result of the survey conducted with 103 professional participants from public, local government and non-government sectors, are offered.
