Investigation of the relationship between exam anxiety of teacher candidates preparing for the Public Personnel Selection Exam and their hope levels for the future

This research was carried out in order to examine the relationship between exam anxiety of teacher candidates preparing for the Public Personnel Selection Examination and their hope levels for the future. Relational survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used. The universe of the research consisted of pre-service teachers in the province of Samsun in the 2022-2023 academic year. The sample of the study, in which the simple random sampling method from the random sampling method was used, consisted of 217 people. "Personal Information Form", "Monthly Exam Anxiety Scale" and "Beck Hopelessness Scale" were used to collect research data. Due to the normality of the distribution of the data, Pearson Correlation, independent sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance (One Way ANOVA) were used in the analysis of the data. According to the research findings, the test anxiety and hopelessness of teacher candidates are moderate; It has been determined that there is a negative and low-level significant relationship between test anxiety and hope levels for the future. While there are significant differences between pre-service teachers' exam anxiety, the years of preparation for the exam and the departments they studied; no significant difference was found between them in terms of gender, graduation status, socio-economic level and assignment score intervals. While there is a significant difference between the prospective teachers' hope levels for the future and the variables of graduation status, socio-economic level and exam preparation year; There was no significant difference between gender, assignment score range and the departments studied.
