Maritime terms in Kâmûs-i Türkî

Kâmûs-ı Türkî, one of the 19 th century Ottoman Turkish dictionaries, has a remarkable richness in terms of lexicography techniques, which constitues a turning point in Turkish lexicography. The study titled "Maritime Terms in Kâmûs-ı Türkî", which was prepared as a master's thesis, consists of an introduction, six chapters and a conclusion. In the introduction part; after specifying the subject, purpose, importance, limitations and method of the study, the subject of the term is mentioned in general initially. General properties of terms; terms in terms of structure, meaning, sound characteristics and the ways of making terms are mentioned, then information about Şemseddin Sami's life, works and literary personality is given, then information about Ottoman Period lexicography and dictionaries and Kâmûs-ı Türkî is given. In the section of Maritime Terms in Kâmûs-ı Türkî, which constitutes the main part of the study, after determining 417 maritime terms, the terms were examined in terms of origin, structure and concept. After the Glossary and Index sections, in the Conclusion section, the findings, numerical data and comments about the study are stated.
