Abstract (EN)

The aim of this in vitro study; To examine whether cinnamommum zeylanicum and curcuma longa extracts, which are effective against endodontic microorganisms and recommended for use as an intracanal drug, have cytotoxic effects against apical papilla stem cells to be obtained from extracted human teeth. The cytotoxicity of 10%, 15% and 20% of cinnamommum zeylanicum and curcuma longa extracts against apical papilla stem cells was investigated at concentrations of 1mg/mL and 2.5mg/mLCa(OH)2 to compare with them. Distilled water was used as the control group. MTT colorometric assay method was used for cell viability determination and statistical analysis was performed with SPSS for Windows 17.0 program. Kruskal Wallis test, Mann Whitney U test and Bonferroni correction were used for comparisons between groups. p<0,001 was considered statistically significant. There was no statistically significant difference between the three concentrations of cinnamommum zeylanicum and curcuma longa extracts and the control group (p>0,001). A statistically significant difference was found between both concentrations of Ca(OH)2 and the control group (p<0,001). According to the results of this study, the investigated concentrations of cinnamommum zeylanicum and curcuma longa extracts were found to be more biocompatible against apical papilla stem cells compared to Ca(OH)2 concentrations.
