Abstract (EN)
Purpose: In this study, the clinical compatibility of acute phase reactant values in patients with febrile neutropenia who received cancer treatment was investigated. Materials and Methods: Patients who were hospitalized in the Bezmialem Vakıf University hospital Pediatric Oncology and Hematology inpatient clinic with the diagnosis of febrile neutropenia after cancer treatment in the last 5 years were included in the study. The files of patients who received cancer treatment between 2017 and 2021 were obtained retrospectively. The number of febrile neutropenia episodes, duration of febrile neutropenia, time since last chemotherapy, CRP and procalcitonin (PCT) values during and after neutropenic episode, blood culture, urine culture, catheter culture results, chest X-ray results, thorax computerized tomography (CT) results and information about treatment regimens were recorded. Results: A total of 101 patients, 70 (69.3%) were male and 31 were female. As a result of the study, there was a positive relationship between the length of hospital stay and the number of days with fever, Htc and Hb, PLT and Htc, (White blood cell) WBC and Htc and PLT, absolute neutrophil count (ANC) and WBC, lymphocyte and WBC. It was determined that the CRP values of cancer patients with mucositis after fever subsided were significantly higher than those without mucositis. In addition, although the number of FN episodes, the number of days with fever and the length of hospitalization were higher in patients with mucositis, the difference between the groups was not significant. There was a positive relationship between CRP and galactomannan levels during FN episode, a positive relationship between hospital stay and procalcitonin (PCT) during FN episode, a positive relationship between the number of days of fever reduction and PCT during FN episode, a positive relationship between hospitalization and galactomannan, and a positive relationship between the number of days of fever reduction and galactomannan. The difference between the CRP values during the attack and CRP values after the fever subsided was statistically significant. The difference between the PCT value during the attack and PCT value after the fever subsided was statistically significant. KONTROL EDİLECEK Conclusion: Although there was no significant difference between the presence of infection and the number of FN attacks, the duration of hospitalization and the number of days when the fever decreased in our study, it has been reported that the presence of infection causes an increase in the number of FN attacks, the duration of hospitalization and the number of days when the fever decreases. We think that the low number of patients was effective in the emergence of this result obtained from our study. Keywords: Cancer, Febrile Neutropenia, Acute Phase Reactants
