Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted in a semi-experimental type to determine the effect of central venous catheter care training on the knowledge levels and care practices of nurses working in the intensive care unit. The sample of the study consisted of 39 nurses working in the Internal Intensive Care, Surgical Intensive Care and General Intensive Care Units of Trabzon Akçaabat Haçkalı Baba State Hospital in Trabzon district center. The data of the study were collected by the researcher using the "Descriptive Characteristics Form", "Central Venous Catheter Information Form for Evidence-Based Guidelines", "Observation Form for Evaluating Nurses' Care Practices in Central Venous Catheter Care for Evidence-Based Guidelines" and "Attitude Scale for Evidence-Based Nursing". In the study, intensive care nurses were given "Central Venous Catheter Care Training Presentation" and their knowledge levels and care practices were evaluated before and after the training. Mean, standard deviation, median; Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, chi-square test, Mc-Nemar test, Mann Whitney U test, Wilcoxon test, ANOVA test, Kruskal Wallis test and Spearman tests were used to analyze the data. The significance level was accepted as p<0.05. The knowledge level post-test scores of the nurses increased at a statistically significant level with the central venous catheter care training (p<0.001). The post-test scores of the nurses' Attitude Toward Evidence-Based Nursing Scale post-test scores increased at a statistically significant level compared to the pre-test scores (p<0.001). In conclusion, it is recommended that evidence-based guideline-oriented central venous catheter care training should be included more in school curriculums, in-service trainings, intensive care courses, etc.
