A model study to develop the academic success and social skills of migrant students in the context of inclusive education

There is no education, training, integration education program or model that has been prepared for immigrant students who have immigrated to Turkey in recent years and attended education, born in Turkey and continue to participate in education, and which is currently standardized in all schools. With this research, the legal regulations enacted for immigrant students and the educational policies that are tried to be implemented were examined, and the opinions of local and immigrant students studying in the same school and school administrators and teachers working in these schools were taken on the education of immigrant students. Embedded theory design, one of the qualitative research designs, was used as a method for this study. The study group of the research consists of 6 school administrators, 10 teachers, 12 immigrant students and 8 local students. The analysis of the data was made with the qualitative research analysis program MAXQDA 2020. The findings of the views of the education stakeholders in the research and study group, such as the status of immigrant students at school and in society, their school success, future success expectation, imagined school profile, ability to express themselves, friendships and feeling safe at school; findings on legal regulations and practices for the education of immigrant students; Findings on applıcatıon for the education of immigrant students were obtained. The findings of the research reveal information about the academic success and social skills of immigrant students in the context of inclusive education. According to the results obtained from the research findings, a process-based inclusive adaptation model was proposed when the participant views were analyzed. The model proposal put forward by the research will contribute to the integration of immigrant students, create a roadmap for school administrators, bring convenience to teachers in education and training practices, and local and immigrant students will adapt more easily when implemented.
