Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY Protective Effect of IL-18 BP (interleukin-18 binding protein) Against Acute Kidney Injury Induced Hepatic Ischemia-reperfusion Hepatic ischemia / reperfusion (IR) injury; especially in major liver resection surgery and liver transplantation, occur in a long time occlusion of the portal vein . Liver IR injury not only liver damage also occurs in distant organs such as heart, lung and kidneys.Although experimental models to date depending on a variety of agents have been reported which inhibit the renal damage induced liver IR injury, the protective effect of IL-18 BP was not investigated. In our study, three groups (n = 8) that comprise 24 male Wistar albino rats were used .Groups were created as a group, 1) Sham group 2) IR (ischemia for 1 hr, 4 hr reperfusion) 3) IR+ IL-18BP (50 mcg / kg),respectively. IL-18BP was administered intraperitoneally 30 min before surgical procedures. Histopathological liver and kidney tissues were stained with H & E. Biochemical serum AST, ALT, LDH, creatine and urea were measured. Oxidative stress parameters in serum and renal tissue GSH, MDA, NO, TAS, TOS, OSI levels were measured. Proinflammatory cytokines IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α levels were examined in the kidney. In our study it was found that, IL-18 BP; corrected liver and kidney function biochemically in acute kidney damage induced liver IR, reduced damage as pathohistological, showed antiinflammatory effect by decreasing proinflammatory cytokines and antioxidant effect by reducing the oxidative stress index. Consequently, if the first time this model with IL-18BP supported advanced research in IR with time it will be able to reduce complications that may occur in clinical, the post-operative hospital stay of patients, the cost ofi treatment and recovery time in liver IR. Key words: liver ischemia reperfusion, IL-18BP, acute kidney injury
