Abstract (EN)

H. pylori is a Gram-negative, spiral shaped microaerophile pathogen which is colonized in more than half of the world population?s stomach. It is a major cause of gastritis associated disease like gastritis, gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, gastric adenocarcinoma, mucosa associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma (MALT lymphoma).Using combination of effective antibiotics and controling acid secretion in the treatment of patients with H. pylori-related dyspepsia were highly successful clinically and bacteriologically. However in recent years, especially due to the primary and secondary resistance against first choice antibiotics successful treatment rates were fallen. Therfore, the determination of tratment protocols has become important in the development of resistance.Antibiotic susceptibility testing was performed for 49 strains which were isolated from 187 biopsy samples from 73 patients with gastrointestinal complaints and endoscopy indication referred to KTU Farabi Hospital, gastroenterology clinic. Metronidazole, amoxicillin, tetracycline, levofloxacin resistance were determined by agar dilution, clarithromycin resistance was determined by the E-test method. While 48.7% of 187 biopsy samples were positive in Gram stains only 24.1% were positive in urease test and culture positive rate was 39%.No resistance was stablished to tetracycline in agar dilution method, while metronidazole, amoxicillin, clarithromycin and levofloxacin resistance rate were: 40.8%, 6.1%, 20.4%, 40.8% respectively.Metronidazole, amoxicillin, tetracycline, levofloxacin, clarithromycin resistance and patient gender, age and endoscopic findings were not. There were no statistically significant relationship between patient gender, age, endoscopic findings and metronidazole, amoxicillin, tetracycline, levofloxacin, clarithromycin resistance.
