Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY Kemal Tahir is not only an artist whose writing made an impact in his own time; he also represents one of the most significant figures in Turkish literature whose ideas and art remain relevant today, despite the passing of time. Although previous studies of his work have analysed it from various perspectives, none have thus far focused on the spiritual development of his characters. This study aims to provide insight into the artist's creative process and enhance his visibility in the field. A dominant feature of his corpus is the notion that social drama precedes individual drama. This study sheds light on the author's ability to create personality by bringing out the drama of the individual from the later plans into which he was pushed. The method of choice for this purpose is psychoanalysis. The use of psychoanalytic theory enables the experiences that have been pushed to the back of the individual's consciousness to be made more visible, facilitating the processing of reasons for their behaviour or emotions. The consistency observed between the author's established personality types and those proposed by psychoanalysis increases the probability that the artist was interested in psychoanalytic theory. The present study examines the fractures, disruptions, and psychological disorders in the characters' mental strength under their conditions and causality. Keywords: Kemal Tahir, psychoanalysis, behaviour, psychology, literature.
