An unexpected inspiration point in character design: Diatoms

Illustration from past to present; has been the art of painting which conveys the main idea and aims to raise the awareness of the society without disturbing the integrity of the meaning of the ideas and thoughts in line with the knowledge of the person. The illustrator makes use of various techniques during this information transfer. One of them which character design is an issue that requires in-depth analysis. In the character creation process, each new character needs a reference source. If the illustrator processes this reference source with his technical knowledge and observation ability, he will have successful results in his work. In this multi-disciplinary study, diatoms known as water algae bring a new perspective to the usual reference points in character design. In the field of scientific illustration, character design has been mentioned and character designs have been made with reference to microscope images of diatoms which are the product of a multi-disciplinary study, in order to provide a source for and contribute to the upcoming researches.
