An empirical study on the interaction between dark between dark personality traits and individual ethical values

This study examined the interaction between dark personality traits (Machiavellianism, narcissism and psychopathy) and individual ethical values (Love-Respect, Justice-Honesty, Cooperation) and whether dark personality traits and individual ethical values create a significant difference according to demographic variables such as age, gender and title. The sample of the research consists of 352 academicians working in Türkiye. In this context, the first part of the survey consisting of 27 questions aimed to measure dark personality traits, and the second part consisting of 16 questions aimed to measure individual ethical values. In this direction, the participants filled in their demographic information along with 43 questions in the survey text. The data obtained as a result of the survey was analyzed with the SPSS program. As a result of the analysis, it was found that there was a negatively significant relationship between dark personality traits and individual ethical values, and in the examinations made in terms of demographic variables; It was determined that the gender variable caused differences for the dimensions of love-respect, justice-honesty, Machiavellianism, narcissism and psychopathy, the age variable caused differences for the dimensions of cooperation and psychopathy, and the marital status, income level and title variables caused differences only for the dimension of psychopathy. It was also determined that there was no significant difference between the variables of working time and administrative position holding and any dimension.
