Abstract (EN)

In earth sciences, especially in the survey engineering profession, digital terrain model creation, surface modeling and generating area-volume values by using these models have a very important place. For an accurate and reliable area-volume calculation, firstly, an accurate and a reliable surface modeling should be performed. Some interpolation methods are used for these surface modeling and volume calculation. Today, various CAD software's allow us to use these interpolation methods. In this thesis, the first chapter consists of an introduction. In the second chapter, literature summaries and theoretical bases were given. Highways, digital terrain model, interpolation methods and volume calculations were mentioned. In the third chapter, information about the materials and methods used in the practice were given. In the fourth chapter, the values obtained from interpolation methods and volume calculations were submitted. In the fifth chapter, the most appropriate interpolation method was determined and suggested by making comparisons between the obtained results. In practice, the excavation and fill cross-sectional areas on the Digor-Esenkent Road route were determined. Measurement points were collected from black (natural) ground and terracing (excavation / fill) surface in three different cross-sectional areas. Some of the measurement points were grouped as fulcrum and test point. By using fulcrum points, surface modeling has been made with four different interpolation methods and interpolation height values of test points were calculated. Using the fulcrum and test points, volume calculations were made such that the black (natural) ground was the lower surface and the terraced upper surface. The average of five different volume values obtained were taken and this volume value was accepted as the reference value. The effect of different interpolation methods on volume calculation were examined by comparing the obtained volume values.
