Abstract (EN)

The biggest reason for climate change, which is the biggest environmentproblem world is facing these days, is the rapid increase in greenhouse gas emission.An internationally binding agreement is required to deal with this change occurringin the world climate as a result of human activities. In this process that began in 2005with the entry into force of the Kyoto Protocol, the parties have started to takeactions in carbon market to meet the targets they are committed to. In this respect,the businesses need of recording and accounting of gas emissions is emerged. Thisnew accounting field named as ?Carbon Emission Accounting?, includes a range ofprocesses such as calculation of carbon foot prints of greenhouse gasses emissionsinto atmosphere, tracking, recording and reporting as well as calculation of its cost tobusinesses. In this thesis, a proposal has been put forward about the applicability ofcarbon emission accounting, which still hasn?t been implemented in Turkey, byexemplifying a sample implementation. It is anticipated that this thesis fills a largegap in Turkish literature.Keywords: Climate Change, Carbon Trading, Carbon Markets, CarbonEmission Accounting, Activity Based Costing.
