Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, the protective effects of pomegranate juice against oxidative stress induced by CCl4 in rats were investigated. Four groups were formed in the study. These groups are; Control group (K), Pomegranate juice group (N), CCl4 (C) and CCl4 + Pomegranate juice (CN) group. Pomegranate juice was administered at 4 ml/kg and also CCl4 as 0.2 ml/100gr. MDA, reduced GSH, AChE, GST, Ces and fatty acid levels were determined in the liver tissues of rats. Compared to the K group, while C group MDA level increased, Ces enzyme activation level decreased. According to C group, while the MDA level of CN group decreased, Ces and AChE enzyme activity levels increased. While the level of ∑PUFA in group C decreased, the level of ∑MUFA increased compared to the K group. Also, compared to K group, the 20: 4n6 level decreased whereas the 16: 0 fatty acid level increased in the C group,. Positive effects on unsaturated and saturated fatty acids were observed with the effect of pomegranate juice. As a result, we think that pomegranate juice has protective effects on antioxidant enzyme system and fatty acid levels against oxidative stress caused by CCl4.
