Abstract (EN)

The depth and rate of the rescuer's compression applied during CPR must be sufficient and rhythmic. Manual CPR causes not only fatigue in rescuers but also decreases performance of rescuers as time passes. By the development of technology, the more convenient automated CPR device has emerged. The aim of this study is to investigate whether there is a quality difference between CPR performed manually or with the help of an automated device on an experimental manikin. For this purpose, 70 medical professionals from EMT-Paramedic group, Thirty Eight of whom are female (54.3%) and remaining Thirty Two are male (45.7%) applied manual CPR for 2 minutes. During this application, CPR parameters were recorded with the CPRmeter 2 device. At the same time, the CPR parameters of the LUCAS 2 device were recorded 9 times with the CPRmeter 2 device on the experimental manikin. Since the LUCAS 2 device provided very similar results, 9 measurements were found statistically sufficient.This study found out a significant difference in the number of compressions, average forces, average rates applied by the LUCAS 2 device and EMT healthcare professionals (p<0.001). However, there was not a significant difference identified between the LUCAS 2 device and EMT professionals in terms of average depth and average flow fraction (p>0.05). This study identified a significant difference in the number of compressions, average forces, average rates, average flow fractions between the LUCAS 2 device's and paramedic healthcare professionals' (p<0.001 - p<0.05). Nevertheless, there was not a significant difference between the LUCAS 2 device and paramedic healthcare professionals with regards to average depth (p>0.05).Significant results happened to be found between manual CPR and automated CPR. This study showed that the data of both methods were close to each other, but the automated CPR device provided more meaningful results in terms of particular parameters.
