Strategies for cargo companies' readiness for drone technology utilization

In the globalized world, the logistics sector has become increasingly influential, making it easier to design products and services at a specific location in the world, produce them elsewhere at a lower cost, and deliver them to other regions in need. In this environment of growing global competition, businesses have begun to seek new methods to reduce costs and gain a competitive advantage by ensuring customer satisfaction. Throughout history until today, we can observe that people's production and consumption needs have increased with technological advancements, and parallel to this, the cargo transportation sector, which is a part of the logistics field, has developed significantly. The cargo transportation industry, which transports all types of goods to every corner of the world through air, land, and sea, has taken its place in the global economy by making the best use of technology and contributing to its advancement. The cargo transportation sector, which positively reflects the development of technology in its field, has implemented drone technology activities worldwide to achieve green cargo transportation, reduce transportation costs, utilize time efficiently, and ensure customer satisfaction by obtaining maximum benefits with minimum costs. This study examines how activities related to drone technology have been integrated into the cargo transportation sector in our country by companies operating in the sector, their current status, and the process they have followed through interviews with specific individuals working in cargo companies. A qualitative study was conducted, and a case study and unstructured interview technique were used. The data collected through the interviews were transformed into case studies, and by comparing them within the framework of the holistic multiple case design in the case study method, conclusions and recommendations were reached.
