An exploration of coping methods with stress of nurses in artvin and kars and the factors which effect these methods

This study has carried out as a descriptive research to investigate the coping methods with stress of nurses in Artvin and Kars and to investigate the factors which effect these coping methods. The sample of research was composed of 119 nurses who work in Artvin and Kars Govermen Hospital. Data was collected trough a Style of Coping With Stress Scale, a questionnaire consist of socio demographic characteristics and an assessment of nurse stress form which shows the factors causes stress on nurses. The data was evaluated with t- test, correlation analysis and varyans analysis. In the study, it was found that nurses used self-confident approach as the mostfrequent way coping with stress and besides this they frequently used problem focused methods for coping. Findings showed that; age, working years, choosing the job willingly, and the satisfaction with the milleu on the coping methods of stres. Besides these, number of children, number of patients caring, marital status, choosing the working service, finding job suitable for herself, weekly working time and the person who was shared problems were not effectual on the coping methods of stress. It was found that, the factors which caused the most stres on nurses were directional stressors and the factors which caused the least stress on nurses were stressors related to interpersonal relationships. According to data we had, the factor which caused the most stres on nurses were directional stressors. In this connection; it is recommended to directors to pay attention to factors which affect the stress and coping methods of nurses and according to this it is recommended to put in order the working milleu to increase the satisfaction and performance of nurses.
