Abstract (EN)

In this study, the treatability of mixed raw industrial wastewater taken from the inlet of the Eskişehir Organized Industrial District Wastewater Treatment Plant by electrochemical methods was investigated. The raw wastewater was treated by electrocoagulation using soluble iron and aluminum electrodes and electrooxidation using diamond electrodes. COD analyses were conducted according to Turkish Standard Method TS 2789 ISO 6060/ April 2000 ?Water Quality ? Determination of The Chemical Oxygen Demand?. The effects of different concentrations of supporting electrolyte, current densities, flow rates and pH values were investigated. In experimental study; soluble iron and aluminum parallel plate electrodes were used for electro-coagulation, COD removal efficiency was significantly increased to 90%. By electro-oxidation using boron dopped diamond parallel plate electrodes; the efficiency was approximately 93 % in optimum conditions. As a result; it was concluded that mixed industrial raw wastewater can be directly treated by both elecro-coagulation and electro-oxidation.
