Özet (EN)

The demand for railway systems in urban public transport increases every day. Depending on the increasing urban population, railway systems that could respond to the demands of the people to travel more comfortable and faster have become a priority for solving the traffic problems of many cities. Therefore, light rail systems that fill the gap between tramway and subway in cities with an average population will be able to meet the public transport needs of our cities. In this study, rail systems used for urban public transportation have been firstly mentioned. Then, choosing the right rail public transport system according to the needs of the city and utilising the chosen system efficiently were aimed. By using the Method of Comparative Benchmarking, it was determined how efficiently the light rail transit systems operated actively in our country were used. It was also discussed how the systems whose performances were below the average could increase their performances by following the operation policies of other systems working efficiently.
