Tecnical specifications and problems of trout breeding facilities of Kastamonu province

This study was carried out by the aim of determining the feasibilities, structural and bio-technical problems of aquaculture facilities in land in the Kastamonu. Total 10 fish farms licensed located in the fresh water, were determined. 6 farms of that 10 farms were visited and interviewed with their owner face to face, farms and pools were photographed additively. In this study, trout breeding facilities of Kastamonu Province, a suitable place for trout breeding, were evaluated. As a result of this evaluation, current status, capacities, and problems of trout breeding facilities were determined. Although total capacities of farms were 259,5 tons/year, the actual production was determined as about 166 tons/year. This results show that farms use almost 64% of their total capacities. It also determinated that ponds used in a productive manner and stock density was very low. Kastamonu has various problems in aqua-production such as catching, stock protecting, environment and pollution, input and support, industry and commerce, societal education and organisation, and adaptation and adjustments according to European Union. Some suggestions were provided to solve these problems and increase the capacity of trout breeding facilities.
