Katip Celebi (From the perspective (Iraq) of a foreign student)

Katip Çelebi is one of the most famous scholars of the Ottoman Empire and his works are valuable sources that contribute to the world of Ottoman science. Katip Çelebi has written many works in different fields such as history, translation, sociology, politics, philosophy, science and literature. In this study, the contributions of his works to the world of science and the diversity and richness exhibited by him in these works were examined. In addition, in the study, the author's family, life, upbringing, demand for knowledge and death are discussed. By emphasizing his teachers, personality and relationship with science, an analysis of the social, political and cultural life in the period he lived was made. Again, the study describes the problems faced by the Ottoman Empire during this period and Çelebi's critical approaches and solution proposals against them. As a result, Katip Çelebi is one of the most important figures of the Ottoman Empire and the history of Islamic science. He has contributed to the world of science by producing works in many different fields. His works and ideas have been a source for many scientists and researchers both during his time and after. Perhaps the most important work of Katip Çelebi, the "Keşfu'z- Zunun", has also been examined in detail in this study, and information has been provided about the importance, scope, accuracy and inclusiveness of this work. In addition, the sections of this work, the subjects and the sources on which Çelebi is based are discussed. Therefore, his life, works and ideas are worth studying today.
