Financial influence of participation banks and competitive with deposit banks

The subject of productivity measuring for banking system, which is getting moresignificant share from Turkish financial system, is a fact kepping on actuality.Especially with the improvement of liberalist tendency in the economy as industrialestablishments also financial ones? attempts and leaps increased to direction ofrationalism and from this situation the impact on competitiveness and productivitycould be followed more closely and more sensitively.From 1980s some arrangements were done towards setting establishmentsregarding financial service suppliers for realizing fund transfer from Middle East toTurkey. As a result of this in Turkey ?Special Financial Establishments? (called as?Participation Banks? since 12.12.2005) established.Participation banks which is coming in to Turkish financial system in 1980s,getting improvement durig years. At the end of year 2005 its share in banking sector is2.44%, share in total deposits is 3.33% and share in total credits is 4.94%. From thisevaluation of influence and productivity of interestless banking operaters participationbanks and competitive with interest basis operaters deposit banks determination is seensignificant.In this research study ?Data Envelopment Analysis? method is applied formeasuring the infuence. Data envelopment analysis is a method applying for measuringthe productivity when there are many inputs and outputs to be observed and these inputsand outputs could not transformed in to one input and output. In this analysis applyingstudy realised with 28 decision makers? with 3 inputs (total deposits - funds collected,personel expences, interest expences - profit share expences) and 2 outputs (total credits- funds utilised, interest income - profit share income) used between the years 2001 to2005.In conclusion, participation banks and deposit banks are similar as fundtransferring establishments, but the difference of their operations could be reflected totheir influence. In addition, this difference is provoke effects differently from thedevelopments in structure of economy.
