Applications of traffic simulation in intersection design - Bursa city gürsu intersection example

With the growing population, increasing vehicle traffic causes many problems. These are problems such as queue length, excessive fuel consumption and loss of time depending on vehicle density. In addition to these problems, it affects the passengers in traffic psychologically negatively. Within the scope of this study, Bursa province Gürsu Junction was discussed. It has been observed that there is an improvement in the peak hour values of Gürsu Junction and it is aimed to reduce the queue length and waiting time values. In the thesis, a simulation program called PTV VISSIM was used. With this program, it is possible to configure data entries and learn possible consequences without going through the current surveillance. VISSIM Also, GEH analysis tested that the configuration simulation would be real. The scenario results created were compared, and scenarios 3 and 4 were executed with the best results. In scenario 3, the current circuit time is paused while running. In Scenario 4, the pedestrian upper design was designed while using the current circuit time. As a result of the analysis, emission values such as transport delay, stopping delay, queue lengths, journey time, fuel consumption, CO, NOX, VOC have decreased in scenarios 3 and 4
