An economic investigation of the academic achievement of vocational high school students in unrecorded: An example of suruç district of şanliurfa province

In this thesis, academic achievement of unregistered vocational high school students was examined economically. The sample of the study consisted of students attending official vocational and technical high schools in Suruç, Şanlıurfa. In the study, a specially developed questionnaire was used to collect some quantitative and qualitative data of these students. The data were analyzed by using SPSS Statistics 17.0 and Microsoft Office Excel programs. While examining students' academic achievement, the effect of unregistered study on school grade point average, achievement certificate, number of courses passed, number of courses passed, number of courses passed and grade repetition status were analyzed with Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney U tests. According to the results of the analysis; In the period when the schools are open, the academic success of the students, who are mostly employed by their families in various sectors such as agriculture, have been adversely affected. Considering the socio-economic conditions of the region, it is thought that the opportunity cost and the concessions of the human capital, which prefer to work instead of school, negatively affect the economy of the region. Determining how these children will be shaped after they finish school will be important in terms of determining their effects on the national economy.
