The Relationship Between Shadow Economy and Economic Growth: The Case in Turkey from 1990 until Today The shadow economy is an important is an important phenomenon that regards to every part of the society from the past till the present time. Withthe knowledge that there has been increasing literature regarding that phenomenon recently, the fact that it is related to the income of goverments increases the importance of the topic more. İn this paper, the first section covers the definition og shadow economy,its characteristics, and its classification. After that, a thorough investigation of the reasons why people incline to shadow economy will take place. The second section covers the positive and/or negative efefects of the definition og the shadow economy in the sectors that have been affected by it. On the other hand, attempts to measure the shadow economy will be presented.
