A research into teaching mother tongue through 7th grade course book in Kazakhstan

This paper has been prepared to investigate mother tongue education upon 7th grade course book in Kazakhstan Republic. In Kazakhstan Republic, there are two types of mother tongue educations that are in Russian Schools and Kazakh Schools. In Kazakhstan, where Kazakh language and Kazakh literature are taught separately, course books, course times and accordingly all the subjects are different. For the usefulness of the study; the literature part has not been included into research, but the educational institution of 7h grade Kazakh lesson that is taught in Kazakh schools have been analysed. The study consists of four chapters. In the first chapter of the study, general knowledge about mother tongue education has been given. In the second section, the place of Kazakh language in its own education system has been evaluated by dealing general education system in Kazakhstan. From the Soviets to today, educational policies in Kazakh language, personalities that created the basement of education system and works of these personalities in the field of education have also been stated in this section. In part three, how the mother tongue education occurs in Kazakhstan upon 7th course book takes part. In this part, books employed in Kazakh language education have been introduced and these books have been analysed in terms of form and content. Many other topics from tenses to moods and from acquirements to annual plans by analysing course book in terms of educational methods and from tables and figures in the book to lesson plan sample have been dealt in this chapter. In the fourth part of the study, the course book has been analysed in details, and subjects, exercises, homework taking part in the book have been explained with their examples. Afterwards, acquirement, subject, exercise, homework and exam homework have been categorized and statistical data related to them have been revealed. In the chapter of conclusion and recommendations, evaluations relevant to how the 7th grade mother tongue teaching is performed have been presented.
