Özet (EN)

In this study, first, we have identified the idioms and sayings related to the folk beliefs and religious matters of (Kazan) Tatars. Secondly, we determined and evaluated the religious views, wishes and curses, oaths, folk beliefs, traditional practices, mythological beliefs and folk teachings belonging to Tatar people. Although these issues cannot be separated from each other by sharp lines, we have studied them in separate sections namely the ones related to religion and those related to folk beliefs. Kazan Tatars adopted Islam in 922. With the influence of Arabic, which is the main language of this religion, it is seen that the word patterns in cultural memories have changed or disappeared significantly. This is reflected in the words, practices and customs of wishes, curse words and oaths. In this study in which 1059 idioms and phrasal sayings in Tatar Turkish were examined, Turkish equivalents of the words, their explanations in Turkish and, if any, briefly, narratives about their emergence were included. It is possible to reach a lot of information about the spiritual culture of Tatars in this dictionary about Tatars' folk beliefs and religous thoughts. As a result of the research, it was seen that there is no comprehensive dictionary study about the religions and beliefs of Kazan Tatars. In our opinion, such a study is a need in order to achieve adequate and accurate information to do research about the culture of the Kazan Tatars.
