Turkish literature and literary people in Cyprus Hür Söz Newspaper (1946 - 1951

Newspapers have paved the way for the emergence of many literary and sociological works from past to present. Newspapers, which both aim to provide news and lead the way in the publication of literary works, have contributed to the development of literature and men of letters. Many writers have had the opportunity to publish their opinion pieces primarily in newspapers. Poets first published their poems in newspapers, thus taking refuge in newspapers in their adventure of self-realization. This is the same for novel writers. As a matter of fact, parts of the novels known as "serials" were published in newspapers, and newspapers allowed the novels to be published independently. In this context, the contribution of newspapers not only to providing news but also to the consolidation of the literary ground is clearly seen. Hür Söz newspaper, which is published in Cyprus and is both the word, voice and literary guide of the place where it is published, is worth researching in the context of expressing the meaning and importance of periodicals. Hür Söz newspaper was published in Cyprus between 1946 and 1958 under the privilege of M. Fevzi Ali Rıza. This newspaper, published daily and printed in large size with 2-4 pages, not only reflected the social, cultural and economic life of its period, but also included literary genres. In this study, Hür Söz newspaper will be examined in the context of literary articles published in the newspaper.
