Water buildings in Cyprus on Ottoman Period: Turkish baths and fountains

The purpose of this study is to handle the fountains and Turkish baths that built in the Ottoman Period in Cyprus. This work consists of six basic chapters:"Introduction", "Water Ways and Water Buildings in Cyprus", Destroyed Baths and Fountains", "Catalogue", "Discussion" and the"Conclusion". In the "Introduction" section, the definition, aim and the limits of the main topic are explained along with the research methods and literature. This chapter also contains a brief history of Cyprus. The second part of the thesis, named "Water Ways and Water Buildings in Cyprus", investigates water sources, carrying systems and cisterns which built in Pre-Ottoman and Ottoman era. "Destroyed Baths and Fountains" generates the third section of this scrutiny. The theme of this part is the fountains and baths which do not exist any more or some ancient ruins of them. Names of these monuments are collected from various sources. In the "Catalogue" chapter, whole architectural characteristics of baths and fountains that built in Cyprus during the Ottoman period are introduced individually. In the "Discussion" chapter, architectural works like water fountains, water-tanks with fountains and baths are compared in terms of typology, supplies, epigraphs, constructional components, facade designs and decoration. The "Conclusion" chapter presents some general viewpoints depending upon the findings obtained from the sources.
