Implication the independence war of the Turkish Cypriots in Özker Yaşın's novels

This present study aims to make a comparative analysis of Özker Yaşın's novels Bütün Kapılar Kapandı, Kıbrıs'ta Vuruşanlar (Mücahidin Romanı), Kıbrıslı Kâzım and Girne'den Yol Bağladık in light of the historic events in Cyprus. Although the author creates fictional stories, our study revealed that the characters, story line and the setting in his novels are partially based on real life, and even in some parts he narrates them as is. Historical events does not included in Bütün Kapılar Kapandı which is the first novel of author's four novels. It depicts a section of its main character's life that falls in love with the protagonist of a novel he reads. Kıbrıs'ta Vuruşanlar (Mücahidin Romanı) narrates the murderous events experienced in Cyprus and the independence war of the Turkish Cypriots in 1963-1964 in detail. Girne'den Yol Bağladık tells us the immigration and asylum story of the Turkish Cypriots who had to leave their homes after the Greeks' attacks and their route from the war of independence to independence. And finally, Kıbrıslı Kâzım depicts the frustrations of its main character who is not elected at the parliamentary elections and his criticisms about the period as well as the resistance days of the Turkish Cypriots in some chapters. In both novels, the auther tries to integrate the historical events and the characters with the fictional world and characters he creates, and also reflects his thoughts and emotions to his novel.
