Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to develop method conditions for the quantification of ethylene oxide (EO) residue used as fumigant for sterilization in food products and to validate the obtained method in carob matrix. Acetonitrile was used as solvent in the extraction process of the method, Quecher's kit was used in the purification phase and GC/MSMS device was used in the analysis. During the validation process, carob samples known to be EO-free were contaminated with EO and 2-CE (2-Chloroethanol) and the measurement uncertainty was calculated from the data obtained. In validation, selectivity / specificity, measurement range / linearity, repeatability, reproducibility, recovery and robustness parameters were studied. As a result of the validation and measurement uncertainty studies, the measurement limit for EO was 100 µg/kg, the recovery rate was 103,01% and the expanded uncertainty result was 0,11. The analysis data obtained as a result of validation were compared with statistical tests and evaluated as appropriate.
