Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted by evaluating cats of different breeds, ages, and genders, diagnosed with odontoclastic Resorptive Lesions, based on physical and radiological examinations carried out between June 1, 2024, and December 1, 2024, at the Veterinary Faculty, Department of Surgery, Balıkesir University, and at Akademi Animal Hospital, a private hospital in Bursa. The study sample consisted of 24 cats. Between the specified dates, a total of 325 resorptive lesions were detected in 24 cats brought to the Surgery Department clinic and the private hospital, and on average, 13.54 lesions per cat were found. As a result of this study, it was observed that males had more lesions than females, the prevalence was highest in the age ranges of >6 years and 4-6 years, and increased with age. It was also found that non-neutered cats had more resorptive lesions compared to neutered ones, and mixed-breed cats had more lesions compared to purebred cats. The definitive diagnosis was made with radiological findings, and full mouth radiographs were taken for all the cats. Due to the disadvantages of tomography compared to radiography, it was not preferred. The preferred treatment method in all patients was tooth extraction, and it was applied to all affected teeth and its benefits were observed. Keywords: Cat, Odontoclast, Resorptive lesion, Tooth
