Price formation as an economic issuein kalam sources

Price formation, which is an economic subject, has been discussed in Kalamic writings in the context of Allah's and humans' actions. Throughout the history of economics, the subject of the price has been examined together with the concept of the value, and has been a fundamental factor that distinguishes economic doctrines from each other. In this study, firstly, price and other related concepts are discussed. Then, the verses of the Qur'an that are related to the price are mentioned, and necessary statements are made along the way by giving examples from the Hadeeths as well. Then, the Kalamic schools of thought are discussed in respect with the concept of price formation, and certain scholars' ideas are explained in depth. Lastly, the price formation is discussed based on the views of modern economic schools of thought, and is evaluated by comparing modern scholars' views to those of Kalamic. In this study, the main motivation of Kalamic scholars to understand the concept of price, which is an economic issue, is questioned, and it is aimed to detect the similarities and differences between the approaches of Kalam scholars and modern economics. It is seen that the main reason why Kalam scholars dealt with this subject was to determine the real coordinating agent of economic life. But it is found that some linguistic conflicts arose among Kalam scholars while trying to understand the relationship between absolute volition and partial volition. In addition, it is seen that both Kalam scholars and modern economics have an emphasis on divine action that takes place in the economic life. However, it is determined that modern economics does not clearly express this divinity because of its efforts to be secular, but rather tries to explain it through other abstract concepts.
