Areas of discussion and conflict in Kemal Tahir's historical city series novels

Kemal Tahir is one of our intellectuals who has been widely discussed with his novels and thoughts both during his lifetime and after his death. The novelist was loved and admired by some people because of his thoughts and the works of art he produced in this direction; There was also great hostility towards him by some sections. The author, whose life was spent in extreme intellectual and artistic debates and conflicts, tried to convey the great transformations in the history of Turkish society and the contradictions and conflicts created by this transformation in his novels. Expressing that if we want to understand our current social structure and our problems, we have to understand the Ottoman social structure and history, Kemal Tahir stated that we should look for the source of the problems in history and he created historical and social theses by working in this direction. He wrote novels in line with these theses and tried to present the facts he believed in from a historical perspective. In particular, he wanted to reflect the problems and conflicts of the individual and society in the face of historical transformation in his novels in the historical city series with a realistic point of view. In our study, first of all, the ideas that constitute the main conflict grounds of Kemal Tahir's historical city series novels and that caused controversy in his period and later periods were revealed. Afterwards, it was tried to explain how these controversial ideas were transformed into conflict areas in the historical city series novels. In the study, based on the fact that the novel type is a type of writing based on conflict in general, the main conflicts that Kemal Tahir deals with in his historical city series novels and the effects of the world of thought on these conflicts are aimed to be reflected concretely.
