The evaluation of the role of the relationship with father in the sexual drive organization among self-cutting girl adolescents through projective tests

The subject of this study is to examine how the quality of female adolescents' relationships with their fathers affects their sexual drive organization. The aim of the research is to shed light on the psychic world of female adolescents who engage in self-cutting behavior and to contribute to the body of research on this phenomenon. In line with this purpose, a clinical preliminary interview was made with 12 girl adolescents who were aged between 15-19, whose parents were alive and who had attempted to cut themselves one or more times. Then the Rorschach and Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) were applied. The results obtained from the applied Rorschach Test were compared with "Rorscach Turkish Adolescent Norms" and the answers were coded accordingly. The findings obtained from the Rorschach and Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) were examined by content analysis method within the framework of the French school. It was concluded that 12 adolescents who have self-cutting tendencies had difficulties with organizing the sexual drive and suppressing the oedipal desire; and that the self-cutting action was experienced as an autoerotic activity.
