Investigation of urban parks, which are reflection of urban identity, by space syntax method, Bursa city sample

Today, factors such as the increasing number of urban population, unplanned urbanization and industrialization cause an increase in the need for open common green areas. Urban parks, which have rich content in terms of reflecting the identity of the city as open use areas, respond to user profiles with different characteristics, offer various activities in open spaces, and contain many areas such as rich social communication opportunities, enable us to describe them as breathing spaces for cities and citizens. Increasing demand brings with it many problems and expectations, the main reasons for which are social diversity and dense population. Analyzing these problems and expectations is important in order for common areas to respond appropriately to user diversity and to increase the user's quality of using the space. By analyzing the spatial experiences of the user in the design studies, problems that may arise can be predicted and different alternatives can be produced as solutions. Ensuring spatial integrity will result in a healthy spatial experience. At this point, examining urban parks, which are important for urban identity and citizens, with the space syntax analysis method will guide the spatial design studies that have been carried out and are planned to be carried out and will ensure that user experiences are prioritized. The study covers 4 parks that have rich content in terms of the formation and reflection of the urban identity of Bursa, the first capital of the Ottoman Empire. At the same time, reflecting the historical past and city identity was a determining factor in choosing a park. These parks; They were determined as Reşat Oyal Kültürparkı, Merinos Parkı, Hüdavendigar Kent Parkı and Vakıf Bera Parkı, and space alignment methods were analyzed with the DepthmapX 0.8.0 computer program. Within the framework of the numerical and graphical data obtained, the effect of pedestrian movement on the usability, sustainability and user satisfaction of the park is emphasized. As a result of the analysis; It is aimed to make suggestions for these 4 parks, which are the study material, and to serve as an example for the planned park designs.
