Özet (EN)
Poverty, which is one of the primary issues that concern all humanity, is one of the problems addressed with the historical background of societies. Poverty, which accelerated from rural to urban migration with the industrialization, became more visible in the city with the repulsion of the countryside. With the changing meanings of the city, urban transformation, which causes slums on the one hand and high buildings on the other hand, makes visible the new forms of poverty that need to be discussed again. In addition to its absolute meaning, a new poverty which is shaped by unemployment, intermittent jobs and inability to consume draws attention in cities where poverty has gradually gained social visibility. In this way, it is possible to read the lifestyles shaped by the way the poor experience space in cities. Apart from belonging to the city, urban poverty manifests itself through daily life relationships in connection with the methods they developed to hold onto the city. In this study, which aims to grasp how poverty is experienced in the poor's own world of meaning, new forms of poverty explained in the context of unemployment, working, and consuming / inability to consume are tried to be explained based on the example of individuals living in Baraj and Güneş neighborhoods of Antalya. In this research, where qualitative research method is preferred, data are obtained by the technique of depth-interview. The obtained data are being analysed via themes such as: "reasons to migrate to the city", "the impact of the citizienship relations on the urban migration process", "socio-economic situation and strategies to cope with poverty", "consumption practices", "belongingness: the connectedness to the place and immediate environment", "marriage, spousal relationships", "daily life practices in the urban area", "health and treatment facilities", "staying alive no matter what: life satisfaction", "attitudes towards strength, success, integrity, and morality", "expectations about life:"the emphasis on the unchangable one", "formal and informal networks and solidarity patterns", "social exclusion: being inside and outside of the city". With this scope, in-depth interviews were conducted with thirty-two (32) people, fourteen (14) men, and eighteen (18) women, in two designated neighborhoods of Antalya. The data are interpreted in association with the relevant literature. The data obtained within the scope of the research reveal that the main causes of poverty are unemployment, low income, and lack of income. Keywords: Poverty, New Urban Poverty, Culture of Poverty
