Abstract (EN)
The concept of city or urbanization has gone through various transformations as it reaches today. Currently increasing migration rate to cities comes with diverse consequences. Cities need to discover their own identity and be conscious of their direction. City museums are associations that improve urban identity and urban awareness, support mutual understanding, mutual respect and common life awareness among different ethnic, religious, cultural and social groups inhabiting the city. "Culture of Peace to City Museums; Museum of the Princes' Island" thesis study aims to express the city museum's consequences in developmental age and analyse Museum of the Princes' Island in this context. This study emphasizes what the city museum's importance and role is to raise an environment where the people avoids prejudices and where the people who seek to understand each other since cities have been multicultural inherent, which provides social reconciliation in it's own structure aim to support the culture of peace under the identity of urban dweller.The main topic of this study is, how city museums support culture of peace and explicates contribution of a city museum that named "Museum of the Princes' Island" built in 2010. In this Context, Museum of the Princes' Island had analysed according to establishment process and how communication works currently (presentation and education activities).The main problematic of this study is, if the Museum of the Princes' Island had consider multicultural social reconciliation in other words "raising the peace of culture" in museum's communication management or in the process of establishment. There are two main research methods used for collecting informations to answer the main points. 1- Reviewing the Museum's vision, mission and basic policy documents together with main communication programs such as exhibitions and education programs. 2- Interviews with the authorities of the Museum of the Princes. At the end of the research it is obvious that the Museum of the Princes have been ambitious to inquiring the way of life, facilities and developmental issues of Adalar people as well as featuring them in the exhibitions or at museums regarding the relations with the near areas without any distinction such as raise, identity, religion, beliefs from the beggining of the establishment process. Especially at the temporary exhibitons it has been strongly emhpasized that there is solidarity and a peaceful environment thatn has been continuing between cultures under the name of "Island Identity"
