Abstract (EN)

....As part of the evaluation of the structural characteristics of farms operating in the urban peripheries of Kırşehir province, a survey study was conducted with 68 producers throughout the province. After the survey study was completed, the information obtained was separated by farm size groups and cross-tabulated. Accordingly, agricultural enterprises with a farm size of 0-50 were presented as the first group, agricultural enterprises with a farm size of 51-100 as the second group and agricultural enterprises with a farm size of 100-plus as the third group. The overall average age of the enterprises participating in the survey was 46.08 years for men and 30.46 years for women, in terms of education level, there were more primary and secondary school graduates and fewer bachelor graduates, the proportion of retired producers in the enterprises was 89.70%, they had 31-40 years of experience, father's occupation was the main reason for taking up farming activities with 92.65%, 66.80 % wanted to switch to good agriculture and organic production, 58.80 % wanted to produce on a contract basis, 100 % were members of an agricultural organization, 61.80 % used advisory services, 91.20 % used agricultural subsidies, 70 % were thinking of changing their production plans, 72 % did not keep accounts on their farms, 61 % did not have soil analyses carried out and 88 % had no problems marketing the products they produced. 95.60% of producers have never heard of the concept of urban sprawl, 88% want their land to be opened up for development because they believe it will increase in value, 56% want to change their place of residence as a result of converting agricultural land into land, and 62% no longer want to work if all agricultural land is converted into land.Producers stated that opening up agricultural land for development will make a positive contribution to socio-economic parameters such as income, employment and environmental development, that factors such as land use policies in the urban periphery, land and property prices, inadequate infrastructure and low farm incomes are significant drivers of urban sprawl, and that the main social and economic factors affecting the value of agricultural land are tenancy and income status. .
