Abstract (EN)

Although quality of life and public health is an issue that concerns all individuals, it is a concept that covers the world's countries and comes to the fore with its development and modernization of societies. The quality of life in cities is that basic services such as infrastructure, transportation and housing are above the minimum standard in terms of physical, economic and social aspects. Necessities such as air, water, foodstuffs, which are our sources of life, and factors such as clean air and clean water, which are necessary for the ecosystem cycle, are the basic elements necessary for the life of all living things. Although these ecological cycles are met from natural areas, increasing population density creates distorted construction. Unplanned and unplanned construction causes damage or even destruction of the city and natural and semi-natural areas around the city. The fact that the ecological processes necessary for the ecosystem cycle are not included in the urban planning studies causes not only the deterioration of the ecosystem, but also the deterioration of green and natural areas, which are habitats for many living things, the destruction of biological diversity, especially the decrease in the relationship between nature and the individual, and the city's deprivation of natural areas. In all this context, green infrastructure is seen as a holistic and economically beneficial method that has an important place in the creation of the green main spine system of the city and tries to integrate the open and natural green space system into the city. The scope of this thesis consists of the green infrastructure approach and the good practices in the important studies and projects that countries have done to create a healthy city in our cities in the context of 'Green Infrastructure and Health', which is one of the seven main topics of the European Commission. As a result, evaluations and system proposals that will contribute to the green infrastructure system in the example of Bartın city of national and international practices are presented.
