Abstract (EN)
The main aim of this study is to reveal the carbon emission emitted from kentsel areas in urban centers by using GIS and Remote Sensing technologies and to associate with it with land use maps. For this purpose, Odunpazarı and Tepebaşı districts of Eskişehir were determined as the study area. In the study were used energy use and fuel consumption data of residential, transportation and industrial areas as urban areas in Eskisehir province for the time period between 2010-2019 and for the land use, CORINE land data for the years 2012-2018 were used. The carbon emission maps produced in GIS-based ArcGIS software with the obtained data are associated with land use maps produced from CORINE data. Our study found that although urban area types with high carbon emissions differ by years, residential areas have the largest share in the high carbon emission values concentrated in the city center. In addition, the current study, it is indicate that urban areas significantly and, forest and semi-natural areas, one of the carbon sink areas, a decrease to be seen. In this respect, it is expected that the obtained results will contribute to the determination of the carbon reduction strategies of the cities and to provide new ideas for the future studies especially on carbon emissions.
