Examination of PUDO points: A field study in Diyarbakır province

This thesis focuses on the urban logistics processes of PUDO (Pick Up Drop Off) points, known as "Gel-Al Points" in Turkey, and the impact of these systems on businesses and customers. The research analyses in depth the advantages and challenges of PUDOs in terms of operation, accessibility and sustainability. The study is based on face-to-face interviews with 22 operators and consists of 6 questions. These interviews provide a detailed assessment of the impact of PUDO Points on business performance and urban logistics processes. The results of the study show that PUDO Points play an important role in reducing urban traffic congestion and optimising courier routes. Positive impacts on business performance were observed and improvements in customer access and experience were identified. They have also been found to have positive impacts on environmental sustainability and have the potential to reduce carbon emissions. PUDO Points are considered to be of strategic importance in urban logistics processes and it is concluded that the effective use of these systems can contribute to the development of urban logistics and environmental policies. This study emphasises that PUDO Points are an innovative approach in urban logistics and can play an important role in urban planning and transport strategies. The research makes significant contributions to the academic literature and provides valuable insights for local governments, the logistics sector and businesses, providing a basis for further research and policy development in this field.
