Evaluations of streets in Bağcilar and Sultanbeyli districts by urban design approach

In our country, the orientation of people to big settlement centers and adaptation to the culture there reveals the concept of urbanization. City and transportation services develop in parallel and the most important factor that causes the city to take different forms is transportation. The problems caused by urbanization are also reflected in transportation services. In transportation planning, short-term solutions instead of long-term solutions have caused various problems. Problems such as wrong type of public transportation and route selection, increase in private vehicles in traffic, insufficient development of rail transport systems and not providing the use of environmentally friendly means of bicycles by providing suitable infrastructure have continued until today and these problems have been tried to be solved with temporary solutions. Istanbul is one of the major cities in the world with its historical, natural and cultural features. Within the scope of this thesis, the two streets chosen to be compared according to many different features in the districts of Bağcılar and Sultanbeyli, which are among the important developing districts of Istanbul, were evaluated through the projects prepared by the relevant units of the municipalities. Firstly, the literature is searched and the basic concepts are explained and the standards of the components of the road organization are determined. The projects produced by the municipalities for Bağcılar district Hoca Ahmet Yesevi Street and Sultanbeyli district Bosna Boulevard, which are the subject of the thesis, were interpreted according to the determined standards. In particular, accessibility, compliance with standards, technical solutions for problems have been examined and evaluations have been made and different solutions have been put forward.
