Preparing kiln schedules for kiln-dry with computer program

SUMMARY Although there are so much technological renovations and developed new materials, wooden material keep its value of the easiness in its usage. Besides its various superior properties wooden material changes its shape at the usage place because of its highroscopic and anizotropic properties. Therefore in order to get more benefit from wooden material, it must be passed from drying process which is the one of the methods decrease the embroidery of wood and keep it stable. Classical-drying which is the one of the methods of technical drying is frequently applied to dry wood material upto its usage moisture content or to the intended use of wood. If technical-drying method is chosen as a drying method, a technical and qualified drying without any defect of wood and casualty during drying must be done because of its high costs. The success of technical-drying is mainly depended on well-prepared drying schedules. In this study a computer program that automatically prepare the drying schedules was established. Throughout the various drying steps of lumber wood material having moisture content from initial to final, the positions of drying conditions were determined and controlled by the computer. In the establishment of this computer program related with the management of drying, Mühlböck kiln-drying computer program was taken as a base and the program we established was tested with the drying-trials taken from the some kiln. The computer program used in this study also contains the data related with the drying criteria's of various trees used in Turkey. All steps of the drying process can be done visually with the help of the computer program. Besides this program also save the user from some codes that made them memorise and give the opportunity of usage easiness of personal computers. Key words : Drying, Computer, Program vn
